About

Pianist Olivia Scott uses her experience as a speaker and an award-winning performer to inform her private teaching. A pianist since the age of seven, she has maintained her own private studio since 2016. Dedicated to professional development, she regularly attends conferences as a member of both the Alabama Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and was recently selected to present her research regarding the effect of personality on performance at the MTNA’s National Conference in Spokane, Washington.

An active performer, Olivia was one of four collegiate performers chosen to play at the international 2018 Triennial Conference in Orlando, Florida, and made her concerto debut with the Samford Orchestra in 2018. As a winner of the school’s Concerto Competition, Olivia's playing has garnered numerous awards, including first prize in the 2018 Alabama Federation of Music Club Competition, second in the Birmingham Music Club Piano Competition, and third place finishes in the 2016 and 2017 Morris Piano Competitions.

Now based in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, Olivia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. While she was in the Samford community, Olivia served as a campus Arts Ambassador and served on the executive board of Delta Omicron Gamma, a professional music fraternity. She is grateful to her former pedagogues: Connie Schweigert, Dr. Ronald Shinn, and Dr. Anthony Patton and Dr. Jovanni-Rey de Pedro.
